Afrislum Background
Ours is an all-inclusive ‘’Nothing for Us without Us’’ outlook that engages beneficiaries at all stages in a projects life and as such ensures ownership and embeddedness that work to trigger a natural momentum for overall collective project success.
The correlation between the problems facing the slum child is such that almost certainly one problem leads to another; over-crowding and poor living conditions make slum dwellers prone to certain diseases, neighborhood effects arising from poor sanitation and poor waste management make for poor water quality which makes for high water borne disease incidence, both Education and Health qualities highly feed off each other in a slum context. This systemic nature of these issues suggests a 1-size fit all solution just won’t stand.
We therefore take an integrated, context-based approach in all our interventions that considers the Local Evidence and slum-specific Operating Situation to realize Fit between Intention and Outcome.
